Conservation and Natural Capital Finance
Climate Finance provides the financial means to implement the transition to a sustainable low carbon and climate resilient economy in line with the 2°C goal set by the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
International climate finance is often referred to as the USD 100 billion per year in public and private funds, that need to be mobilized for climate investments in the developing world, starting in 2020, as part of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. However international climate finance goes far beyond that commitment.
In the field of Carbon Finance, we focus on helping to finance low carbon investments by integrating the value of the emission reductions based on different carbon instruments (carbon markets, carbon taxation, subsidies, special tariffs).
We offer a range of environmental advisory services for climate finance and natural capital finance. Please find here our services.
4CLIMATE TRACK RECORD:
4Climate’s staff has extensive expertise in these areas of climate finance, having worked for the past 17 years with instruments that are generating a price for greenhouse gas reductions and integrating this value in the financing of environmental investments.
In the context of climate finance as part of green and sustainable finance, 4Climate works with products that contribute to the greening of the financial system, for example climate finance labels for investment funds, https://www.luxflag.org/labels/climate-finance and has contributed to and supported the development of the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Roadmap (2018) pdf.
4Climate provided impact advisory services for the Luxembourg Sovereign Sustainability Bond (2020–2021).
Blending public and private capital to finance the conservation and restoration of nature, natural capital projects and nature based solutions to combat climate change is a specific interest and increasing focus of 4Climate. The conservation finance market is a small niche market with a strong growth potential. While assessing environmental values to improve investment returns of such projects, we strive to find the delicate balance between nature conservation, sustainable use of ecosystem services, livelihoods and climate resilience.
4Climate is an official member of the Luxembourg Climate Finance Accelerator, link https://www.icfa.lu. In this capacity, 4Climate is supporting first time climate fund managers in ESG management and proposes tailored climate impact valuation strategies.
